Gluten Free But Still Processed?

Many people turn to flourless recipes for relief from gluten-related ailments and annoyances. Whether they have a serious gluten allergy, like Celiac disease, a gluten intolerance, or some other diagnosis made worse by gluten consumption (such as Gout or Autism), they seek out flourless recipes in an attempt to improve their health and general well-being.

But if health is of key concern, then gluten-free isn't always enough! Plenty of gluten free products are still chock-full of refined ingredients. So that pre-blended gluten-free flour mix you're purchasing may contain cornstarch, white rice flour, tapioca flour, and potato starch--all refined carbohydrates, which means disaster for your digestive tract.
In fact, Dr. William Davis, author of the New York Times #1 Bestseller Wheat Belly, confirms that gluten-free isn't always good. "You can have your wheat-free lifestyle, lose the weight, undo all the damage it has done to your gastrointestinal tract, skin, and nervous system, and still have cookies. But you’ve got to make them with healthy ingredients...NOT gluten-free junk carbohydrates...the ingredients that dominate gluten-free foods but still ruin health."

Thankfully, here at Bizzy Lizzy we use no empty starches and no refined carbs. Instead, we make delicious, flourless magic happen with whole-grain oats, flaxseed, and cornmeal (NOT cornstarch!). So our simple, scrumptious, flourless baked goods won't clog up your digestive tract. They may, however, stick in your mind...as your new, healthier, must-have craving.
