Fuel Up With Wholesome Oats

I don't know about you, but when I think of a hearty, cold morning's breakfast, I think of oatmeal. "It sticks to your ribs," Mom used to say, as she fed us whole-grain oats in preparation for a long day of skiing or sledding, or before heading out to school on a rainy autumn morning.
That's because oats have staying power, keeping you feeling full and energized for longer than your average breakfast. Their high fiber content fills you up with no empty calories, and the beta-glucan found in oats stabalizes blood sugar, preventing energy crashes.
According to The World's Healthiest Foods (whfoods.org), "starting out your day with a blood sugar stabilizing food such as oats may make it easier to keep blood sugar levels under control the rest of the day, especially when the rest of your day is also supported with nourishing fiber-rich foods."
On top of that, oats are an excellent source of many vitamins and minerals, like manganese, magnesium and zinc. These are just some of the many reason's why we choose old fashioned oatmeal as a key, wheat-free ingredient in almost all of our flourless treats.
