Award winning educator, cookbook author and business owner Sheila Rae has spent the majority of her life learning and teaching others about what makes the body work and the importance of good nutrition.
A South Dakota born educator spent the first 18 years of her life learning the art of farming from basic gardening to the fine art of cooking, canning and baking.
After years in the education sector, Sheila Rae ventured out on her own and created Sheila Rae, LLC a professional speaking production company. She now travels and speaks on healthy eating and etiquette.
In early 2007, Sheila Rae saw a need for a high fiber, high protein meal replacement that actually tasted good. After many hours of trial and error, the Bizzy Lizzy Bakery Dark Chocolate Chip Cookie was formed.
Her husband Erik soon suggested testing the product at farmers markets to test it's profitability. Each time out the couple would sell out with great raves over the high quality of the product. During one of the events a MSU Extension Counselor approached them and suggested working with them to market the product.
After that first meeting it was apparent that this product had great potential. The boxing process began with the help of MSU Product Center.
The company is named after Erik and Sheila Rae's daughter Elizabeth. Elizabeth published a children's book at age seven after Sheila Rae had published her own cookbook. Elizabeth announced to the family that she thought she should write a book and when asked on what she said, "Well of course cookies because I am a expert." She then proceeded to write the book and started speaking to elementary students on her process.
When the bakery needed a name it just seemed fitting to name it Bizzy Lizzy because Lizzy is certainly "Bizzy".
